when you take out BIBLE LEARNINGS

One of my favorite scriptures is Ephesians 6:13-16 (NLT) which describes what I need to wear to have the "Whole Armor of God".
As I read the verses the way Paul wrote them (inspired by God) I began to think, what are the main elements in these verses if all the "Roman" armor was removed. We do not live in the Roman times -- can God's word can be applied to any time period and society?  It sure can...see below.

SCRIPTURE WITH NO CHANGES:
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

SCRIPTURE  WHEN I CROSS-OUT ALL THAT RELATES TO THE ROMAN UNIFORM: (belt, body armor, shoes, shield, helmet and sword)

SCRIPTURE WITHOUT THE CROSSOUT WORDS:  WOW, NOW THIS IS POWERFUL:
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
14. Stand your ground putting on God's righteousness.
15. Put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.
16. In addition to all of these, hold up to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.
17. Put on salvation and the word of God.
18. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

There is nothing else I could say to explain what the scripture already told us only:
Ephesians 6:10-11
10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

pay attention BIBLE LEARNINGS

The more I read--the more I learn that I have got to "pay attention".
I read but I am not paying attention.
As a kid we all heard our parents or a grown-up (like my 5th grade teacher) say: "Pay Attention".
Today I have been reading my Father's Word and I heard Him say: "Pay Attention".
This is what I heard:

1. Pay attention-submit your spirit to the Holy Spirit
    (Romans 8:26-27)
26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.

2. Pay attention-by searching your whole heart
   (Jeremiah 29:13)
13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

3. Pay attention-by allowing the Lord to search you.
    (Psalm 139:23-24)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;   test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,   and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

4. Pay attention-by allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you
    (John 14:26)
26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

5. Pay attention-by studying God's word diligently
     (2 Timothy 2:15)
15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.

6. Pay attention-by praying without ceasing
  (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
     17 Never stop praying.

Well I think I got it, I better start paying attention because nothing is going to work until I start to do so.

thoughts that inspire - SELF HELP

Hundreds and thousands and millions of times someone has written about their ideas and inspiration thoughts on how to be a better person or what to do to become a new and improved person....well here are some of mine:
1. You need to build on your strengths - we all have them - we just have to allow them to grow.
2. You must discover your gifts - what is the use in having a gift and never opening it - WELL, OPEN THE BOX ALREADY!
3. You can use your unique experiences to be creative - all of us have experienced life in a variety of ways - there are so many scenarios that we will never be able to write about them all - so be creative and share your creativeness with the rest of us - don't be selfish.
4. You have to push your limits - don't settle for the minimum - go as far as you can go and when you get there stretch out your arm and reach out further more.
5. You should go with confidence - trust that you can.

**Of course, if you are a born again Christian you already know that our God Almighty is the only one that can give you 1. strength  2. gifts  3. creativeness 4. limits   5. confidence - however you MUST trust in HIM, because through Him all things are possible.

my new year's self-revolution - SELF HELP

On todays epaper I want to list  a few revolutionary changes I read.
It is time to make a self-revolution not a resolution for the new year.
Some of these were written by LBJ and I added a few of my own:

1. Make God your first priority.
2. Practice love by serving others.
3. Turn a deaf ear to negativity.
4. Forgive yourself.
5. Hold yourself accountable.
6. Be good to yourself - exercise, eat right, and take time for yourself.
7. Think before you speak.
8. Don't sweat the small stuff.
9. Save money.
10. Keep pressing forward when all else fails.
